Los Altos is a brand new two-story top of the line luxurious five-bedroom beachfront estate made to be the perfect luxury vacation home rental for your Nicaraguan beach vacation. Los Altos is located in the extremely secure, gated community of Hacienda Iguana, on the dreamy, white sand beach of Playa Colorados. Los Altos impressively consists of 8,000 square feet of living space and all rooms and living space have AC.

This luxury estate has 5 bedrooms and 5 1/2 bathrooms. Los Altos has one of the largest pools on the beach. Los Altos is located directly on the sand, with the world-class beach break Colorados right out front. The elegant patio area around the pool is partly shaded and partly exposed to the sun for tanning. The patio has a nice wood table and chairs under the shade, outside reclining pool seats, and an extra shaded area next to the pool with a coffee table and rocking chairs. The house comfortably sleeps 12 people in 5 amazing bedrooms, each with their own handcrafted custom cabinetry and pristine granite counters with precious stone sinks. Two of the bedrooms are master suites. Each master suite has its large king bed and a gigantic bathroom with a full-size bathtub. Both master suites have an insane view of the ocean and the waves at Colorados. Each of the other bedrooms has large twin beds which may be pushed together to make one king size bed. All bedrooms have AC and are located on the bottom floor for a quick exit to the waves! Downstairs there is a living room with sofas, stereo system and television next to the set of spiral stairs that takes you upstairs. On the second floor is a large kitchen with a huge island for food preparation with adjoining bar seating, large cabinets to store groceries, a dining table that fits fourteen, sofas and television. The upstairs room has an amazing view of the ocean and waves out front. There are sliding glass doors that go out to the large second floor balcony with a 36-inch wide built-in gas barbeque and a glass coffee table with matching sofas. From the balcony, there is a small set of stairs that goes up to a third floor lookout. You really get the bird’s eye view of Playa Colorados and the surrounding beaches and mountains.

There are upstairs and downstairs living rooms/home theater systems, each equipped with 60-inch LCD televisions and Dolby/THX 7.1 channel surround speakers/subwoofers! There are also 40-inch Wi-Fi Smart TV’s in each of the master bedrooms. Blu-Ray DVD players and Satellite TV (Sky) are available for each TV as well. The ground floor patio also has its own six-speaker stereo system with 1800 cumulative watts of power for your listening enjoyment.

Los Altos also has high-speed 4G Internet throughout the house and a whole-house back-up generator.

Unlike anywhere in the world, Los Altos is located directly on the sand with the world-class beach break Colorados right out front. Ideally, the beach break has 400+ yards of offshore rights and lefts pealing and barreling up and down the beach. Playa Colorados is a private two-mile white sand beach naturally enclosed with two breathtaking headlands on each side. The beach, the waves, and all the action are right where you’re staying. With the offshore winds, the surf is good all day 300+ days of the year so you get to choose the tides for your surf sessions. Usually, on low tide the waves are steeper, break faster and barrel more at Colorados Beach Break in front of the house. On high tide, the waves tend to be friendlier giving the surfer more room to do maneuvers and stay on the face of the wave longer. Ten minutes walking north down the beach is the outer reef of Panga Drops with a nice spilt peak set up with clean and fun rights and lefts that provide for multiple maneuver waves along the long reef. Panga Drops is a magnet for swell and always has some waves to surf even on the small off-season days! On the big days, Panga Drops can be compared to Sunset Beach on the North Shore of Oahu. On each side of Panga Drops, there are beach breaks that can turn on! At the north end of the beach, there is the picture friendly Los Perros right-hand point break that can have some nice peeling rights on days with more swell. And the south point can have secret little beach break peelers next to the rocks. You can also hire a boat or shuttle van to surf other breaks like the perfect left-hand point break Manzanillo, the cobblestone spilt peak set up of Playgrounds, the easy to surf left-hand point break Lance’s Left, the perfect spilt peak reef set up of Playa Popoyo, the fun left-hand wedge and beach break of Playa Santana, the freakishly insane left-hand wedge and beach break of Playa Yankee, etc. Hiring a local pro guide for the week to surf with every session can be a cool way to get in with the locals and be in the right spot at the right time. Either way, if you book your surf trip with us, we will provide inside information of waves and where to be to get the best waves during your whole stay. We always recommend you hire our staff for surf video and surf photos of every session during your stay with daily video analysis! For those flat days that you don’t surf, there are plenty of other awesome activities and cool day trips you can enjoy.

The sports fishing hub of the area is just around the corner at Playa Gigante where there are several boats that we can arrange for hire. We offer the basic panga boat with shaded cover for $50/hour, the highly equipped fishing panga boat for $80/hour and the high-speed fishing yacht for $160/hour.
Hacienda Iguana has a 9-hole golf course that everyone loves to play. A round of 18-hole golf with golf cart and clubs is only $45/person. On Wednesdays, there is an organized afternoon golf scramble for guests and residents that cost $25/person.
Playa Colorados is an ideal place to practice yoga and there are a couple good instructors you can hire for personal lessons or join group lessons at Mark and Dave’s.
Take advantage of the two-mile private beach and go horseback riding on the white sand. We can arrange for horseback riding on the beach out front with well-kept local horses and a local guide for $20/horse per hour.
You can rent bicycles or golf carts to cruise easily around the community and you can rent motorcycles for going outside the gates.
We can arrange for local masseuses to come to your place for great massages.
We can arrange for a physical therapist to work out any kinks.
Nicaragua is not just rich in beautiful beaches and perfect waves but also has great wonders to tour on day trips like checking out the popular surf city of San Juan del Sur, exploring the magnificent island of Ometepe, going up the impressive ancient volcano of Mombacho to hike and do zip lining, visiting Masaya Volcano for the lava night tour, enjoying the sites of the colonial city of Granada, and much more.

There are six restaurants within the gates of Hacienda Iguana. -Pili’s restaurant at the beach club serves exquisite dining for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and has a beach bar where the vibe is always right with happy hour specials.

Don Eloy’s bar and restaurant, Hacienda Iguana’s first restaurant, is the cornerstone of the development sitting high on the second floor as you enter the second gate. Don Eloy’s opens at 3 pm and officially closes at 11 pm but often goes until later. Don Eloy’s has good pizza and a good overall menu with wings, fries, burgers, and local plates. It’s a great place to watch sports games and find late night parties.
Across the street is Scoops and Spokes is an ice cream, coffee and Panini shop that also offers bike rentals and tours. They also have Side Bar that has special events throughout the week drawing nice crowds.
Vana Tacos is a taco shop right in the same area and is open for lunch and dinner with super good vegetarian, chicken and carne asada tacos and burritos.
Casa Madera is typical Nicaraguan Steak House with local Nicaraguan cuisine, open for lunch and dinner, and located in the wood house just east of the golf condos. Casa Maderas has a wonderful playground for the kids!
Next-door to Casa Maderas is Casa Ananas that is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner has delicious vegetarian plates, Italian food, Thai Food, and Sushi.

At the commercial center, you will also find an ATM machine, NSR Surf Shop, Cesar’s Stop and Go Surf Market, Rio’s Market, Satori Spa, and Iguana Surf School.

Just outside of Hacienda Iguana’s gates to the south is the Riviera Plaza with an Avis Car Rental, BAC Bank with ATM, a Market and Bordport Surf Shop.

There are a handful of good restaurants not too far outside the gates of Hacienda Iguana.

Rancho Santana’s restaurant La Finca Y El Mar is a 15-minute drive north of Hacienda Iguana. The restaurant is located within the gated community of Rancho Santana. The restaurant is a large colonial country club with beautiful grounds. There are games like bocce ball and corn hole to play before or after your dinner. Dinner reservations only, reservations must be made 24 hours beforehand.
Yolanda’s Diner is a famous restaurant on the side of the road where you find delightful service from Yolanda and her staff with large portions of delicious local meals.
Soma Resort has a great atmosphere and a unique setting on the hills above Playa Popoyo a 30-minute drive north of Hacienda Iguana. Soma is a casual open-air restaurant serving fresh food with a distinct flavor using natural ingredients where you will truly savor the “farm to table” experience. They have a full service bar where they’re famous for their mojitos.
In Playa Gigante you have a wide range of local restaurants, La Gaviota on the beach being the most popular. Los Juntos Restaurant and Bar is run by a nice Canadian couple and seems to be the most popular among travelers in Playa Gigante and has a nice menu and a happening vibe.
Aqua Resort’s Restaurant is a quaint spot with a great atmosphere on a small private virgin beach on the other side of the headland from Playa Gigante. The menu is always good with healthy choices.
Within Guacalito de la Isla’s gated community a 15-minute drive south of Hacienda Iguana, you find two restaurants at Mukul Luxury Resort. At their main restaurant La Terraza it feels as if you’re entering a piece of artwork as you walk in. There is a gigantic palapa supported by enormous wood posts made from salvaged trees from past hurricanes on the Caribbean side of the country and the seating is located on a beautiful terrace over the white sand private beach in front of the perfect left-hand point break Manzanillo making for the finest of dining. On the sand, on the south side of the beach, is the Restaurant Tres Ceibas providing a more economic menu and more kick back atmosphere. The finest dining in the area happens at Mukul.

If you want to rent a car to explore outside of the gates by yourself or with a guide, there are three options right around Hacienda Iguana. We suggest reserving your rental car in advance since supply is limited in the area.

There is a Dollar agency at the Costa Esmeralda Airport that upon reservation will pick guests up in Hacienda Iguana and bring them to the airport to get pick up their rental car free of charge.
There is an Avis agency in Riviera Plaza just outside of Iguana’s gates if you take a right hand turn.
There is an Alamo agency right next to the first gate at Hacienda Iguana.
