Surf
Averaging over 300 days a year with all-day offshore wind, coupled with great window for swell, Nicaragua offers some of the best surfing around. Not to mention right out front, there’s over 400+ yards of perfectly groomed right and left peaks up and down the beach.
Surf Trips on the Boat
The boats have a canopy and can fit up to 6 people and include a cooler with waters. Extra beers and drinks can be stocked for extra money in the cooler upon request. The boat can pick you up just past the breakers at Hacienda Iguana or transportation can be arranged to the fishermen village of Playa Gigante where the boats launch from.

Surf Lesson with Surfboard
The waves at Hacienda Iguana can be too big and the ocean on occasions has too much current. Lessons will be arranged only if the conditions are favorable.
- $35/person per lesson or $25/person for a group lesson (about 1.5 hours, 3 people max per instructor) – taught by a local Nicaraguan surfer with limited or no English
- $50/person per lesson for 1-2 people or $45/person for a group lesson (about 1.5 hours) – taught by English speaking surfer

Surf Photos and Video
Land Photos and Video are $100/day for up to 4 ppl, $20/extra person.
Water shots vary depending on the photographer but we’d be glad to link up one of the many talented guys living in the area.

Spot Fishing & Boat Cruises

Golf
Hacienda Iguana Golf Course
A beautiful 9-hole course that meanders across the natural landscape of Hacienda Iguana. The course has been meticulously maintained since its opening in 2004. Designed by Niels Oldenburg, the course boasts engaging and challenging features throughout the 9 holes.
Make a Tee Time or hit up the Golf Scramble! Every Wednesday there is a golf scramble for $25 per person. This includes 9 holes of golf, golf clubs, golf cart, dinner and 1 non-alcoholic beverage. Please meet at the Pro Shop at 2:30pm if you would like to play.
There’s also the Guacalito de la Isa 18-Hole PGA Standard Pristine Course

Yoga
Open Yoga Classes for $12/person at the beachfront palapa at Mark and Dave’s. You can find the Mark and Dave’s by walking the beach. It’s about right in the middle of the beach and there’s a large palapa with a smaller adjacent palapa where the classes are held. The Yoga schedule is, Tuesday (Intro to Ashtanga) at 10am, Thursday (Vinyasa Flow) at 10am, Friday (Surfer Power Yoga) at 10am and Sunday (Yin) at 10am.
Private Yoga Sessions at Your Place
$60 for 1-4 people and $12/person for each additional person.
Horseback Riding
We can arrange for horseback riding on the beach. What better way to end the day riding off into the sunset! It’s also a fun and exciting activity for the family and kids.

Golf Cart Rentals at Hacienda Iguana
We can reserve for you, four man, battery powered golf carts for $40/day or $240/week if paid in cash or $46/day and $276/week if paid by credit card. If you are staying in a condo you will have to bring the golf cart to Casa Maderas every couple days to be charged or if available swap the golf cart out with a charged golf cart. The golf carts must stay on the interior roads of Iguana. Please inquire for availability. It’s important to reserve in advance!

San Juan Del Sur $160
San Juan is Nicaragua’s biggest city on the beach but really it’s just a beautiful little town with good shopping, good restaurants and good vibes. Just outside the city we can make reservations for Zip Lining, Horseback Riding, ATV Tours, and Paintball.

Ometepe is a Disneyland like Island that can be done in one day with an early start! Have a blast exploring the island’s beaches, forests, volcanoes and waterfalls indulging in hikes, Zip Lining, kayaking and much more!
Mombacho Volcano $200
Hike and Zip Line the ancient and extinct volcano located just outside of Granada and just off the great lake of Nicaragua, Cocibolca.

Laguna de Apoyo $220
Visit the raw beautiful of the Crater Lake, Laguna de Apoyo that is said to have healing waters. There are many hotels and hostels here that offer a day pass for $5-$10/person which can often be used towards food at their restaurant. Some hotels have kayaks, inner tubes, paddleboats, sailboats, etc.
Masaya Volcano $250
The Masaya volcano is just outside of Masaya. You can go check out the beautiful view and look down into the crater or take one of the hikes in the area ranging from 1.5-6 km. The park also offers night tours, starting just before sunset. On this tour you often get to see the bubbling lava up close in person and also the crater dwelling parakeets flying around at sunset and bats at night. They also offer horseback riding tours in the national park.
Catarina and San Juan del Oriente and Masaya Market $250
Catarina, San Juan del Oriente and Masaya Market are known for their artisan shopping. You can find beautiful hand-made hammocks, pottery, leather items, paintings, shirts, wood sculptures, coffee, cigars and much more.
- Catarina has a small street with many shops. At the top of the hill you can go to lunch at the Catarina Mirador or just enjoy the amazing view of Laguna de Apoyo, Mombacho Volcano and Granada.
- San Juan del Oriente is just across the highway from Catarina and is known for their pottery goods. You can see the collection that we have display at Villa Colorados.
- Masaya Market is just down the highway from Catarina and San Juan del Oriente and all 3 spots can be done in one day. The market is an old prison that they turned into a really cool market with just about every souvenir that Nicaragua has to offer and more!
